Original compositions and studies after the great masters, rendered in oil.
A body of work spanning original figurative compositions, faithful studies after the masters, and quiet still life.
Johanna Suarez is a figurative oil painter whose work moves fluently between the classical and the modern. Trained in the discipline of the old masters, she paints with a reverence for craft — the weight of the human figure, the fall of light on cloth, the depth that only oil can hold.
Her original compositions carry a quiet, surreal charge: solitary women among scarlet ibises and ravens, veiled figures at a threshold, lovers caught mid-embrace. Alongside them stand her studies after the masters she loves most — the drama of Dalí, the elegance of Lempicka, the light of Monet and Degas — each an act of learning and homage rather than reproduction.
She works from her studio, painting exclusively in oil on canvas. Her paintings are held in private collections and are available for exhibition and acquisition.
